LEMKE WINS FALL CLASSIC!!!!

Jamie Lemke Racing captured the 5th Annual Viking Fall Classic at Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN!

51 modifieds were part of the 260+ cars in attendance at the FYE Motorsports promoted event. We started outside front row of heat #5 Friday night, led every lap, and won the heat. Only the 5 heat winners re-drew for their feature starting position, and Jamie drew outside front row!

Saturday night we ran the 30 lap $3000-to-win feature, on the start Jamie jumped out to the lead followed by multi-time track champion Scot Danzeisen and national champion Craig Thatcher. Thatcher wasted no time passing Scot for 2nd and set his sights on Jamie out in the lead. There were several re-starts and each time Jamie hit his marks and continued to lead the race. Craig did everything he could to try to take the lead but Jamie was too strong up on the top, and we went on to win the biggest race of our long career! It was especially gratifying since it was promoted by Chris/FYE Motorsports, one of his sponsored cars also won the street stock feature.

We want to thank all of our sponsors and fans for their support this season. We had such an up and down season, to end it with a win like this was a perfect way to cap it off. Thanks again to all of you!!!

Close to 60 modifieds participated in the DTRA 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway this past weekend. Thursday night we started our heat race from the pole, with passing points being used we knew we had to win the heat. After following the outside pole sitter for most of the race, Jamie took the lead back with 2 to go and won the race. We lined up 10th for the qualifying feature and needed to finish in the top 8 to guarantee us a spot in Saturday night's A-feature. We came up 1 spot short finishing 9th.

We did it all over again Friday night, this time starting 9th out of 10 in a heat. We gained a lot of passing points, finishing 3rd, and started the qualifying feature in the 4th spot. Unfortunately we were too tight to run up on the cushion and too loose to run down on the slick, so we fell back to finish 9th again.

They ran a unique format that allowed the top 8 from Thursday to race again on Friday, and if they finished better on Friday, they got that position. Well 2 drivers bettered their finish on Friday, so we were bumped up to 7th in the finishing order on Thursday, thus putting us in Saturday's feature.

We started 13th in what was a loaded lineup, and made passing very difficult throughout the field. We hit the setup well but so did most everyone else in front of us, and we finished 12th. It was a good, I think Chris said there was close to 110 wins between all the drivers in the feature.

Right now it looks like our next race to close out the season will be the Viking Fall Classic on October 4th, 5th and 6th.

Thursday night, August 30th, the Towmaster Trailers/GRP Motorsports/FYE Motorsports J-car traveled to KRA Speedway in Willmar, MN. After winning the heat we started the feature in the 3rd position. About 5 laps in Jamie passed Nate Heinrich for the lead and went on to take our 2nd feature win of 2007. Rex the new shocks worked awesome! Unfortunately the motor still had issues and we were forced to park it for the rest of the weekend.

Fellow racer and Lemke Racing sponsor, Shawn Nolan and French Lake Auto Parts, has stepped forward and borrowed us his Chevy Spec Motor to use so we can participate in the Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, WI) this coming weekend. This 4-day show pays the modified feature winner $3,000 Saturday night. We fired the motor last night and everything is ready to go for the weekend.
Thanks Shawn for your help, we greatly appreciate it!!

After this weekend we have 1 more big race and that is the Viking Fall Classic at Viking Speedway on October 5th and 6th. This show is promoted by 1 of our sponsors, Chris Stepan and FYE Motorsports. It's always a great way to finish the season and we encourage everyone to come check it out.

We looked the engine over last night at the shop. After trying a few different things, we fired the engine up and Jamie took it down a nearby gravel road. He couldn't get the engine to bog or fluctuate the oil pressure like it did on the track Saturday, so we will be going to KRA Speedway this Thursday night. We'll see if it runs good under race speeds and conditions, if it does and all goes well, we will be going to Viking Speedway for their double-header on Saturday and Sunday.

Wish us luck and thanks again!

The last 7 weeks have been nothing short of a struggle for our race team. After running a strong 3rd @ Cedar Lake Speedway on Dale Earnhardt Jr night, which included beating Kenny Wallace in the feature, we ran into problem with our new engine. When Jamie pulled the car into tech it was making a sound it shouldn't be, so we decided to take the rest of the weekend off and get it back to Pro Craft. What they found was that something went wrong and damaged 1 piston, with no spares they had to order some, which ended up taking 5 weeks. With no spare engine this forced us to park the car and we had a vacation for the rest of July and part of August. Last week we got the engine back from Pro Craft and got it in the car last Monday. With KRA Speedway raining out Thursday night, we headed to Viking Speedway on Saturday night (8/25). Unfortunately again we experienced some engine problems and Jamie pulled it in halfway thru the heat race. Jamie will be talking to Pro Craft today to figure out if there is something we can try to see if we can remedy the problem ourselves.

This is our 7th season using Pro-Craft Racing Engines and up to this season we have never had an issue. We have yet to blow up an engine from them, and before this season we had only had 1 engine break on us in 6 seasons. Reliability has never been an issue, but this new engine has had some problems that we wish we could get figured out.

Jamie, Paul and myself apologize to all of our sponsors and fans for this season going how it has. 2006 was an off year for us but 2007 has proven to be just as bad. It's frustrating when we had to take that time off for something that is out of our control and we cannot fix ourselves and just have to sit and wait.

When I have more info I will pass it along.........thanks again for the support.

The Towmaster Trailers/Napa Auto Parts/FYE Motorsports J-Car headed to Viking Speedway on July 6th-7th, for the 3rd Annual Minnesota Modified Nationals. 59 modifieds checked into the gate for the $7000-to-win/$700-to-start show. We started 8th in heat 5 and ended up finishing 4th, which didn't get us quite enough passing points to qualify for the feature. The next night we started on the pole of 1 of 3 B-features. With the track black and slick from the hot 105-degree sun, we hit the setup right on and won the race. We started 17th in the 50-lap feature. They re-worked the track shortly before, so it was pretty tacky and bad fast. We made it to the fuel stop on lap 20, when we went to re-fuel the car we noticed that the RR fender had gotten pushed into the tire and had basically junked the tire. Instead of changing the tire we opted to park it because we weren't moving up much in the race.

This past Thursday we went to Cedar Lake Speedway for Dale Earnhardt Jr night. Also appearing was Kenny Wallace, Sterling Marlin, Greg Biffle and Todd Kleuver. Kenny brought along his #36 modified and raced with the DTRA modifieds. We started 8th in the heat, the car worked ok for the 1st time on the Goodyear's this year, and finished 4th. We re-drew the 6th starting spot in the feature and finished 3rd, almost getting 2nd late in the race. Kenny finished behind us in 5th. It was fun to race in front of over 10,000 fans that were on hand, we ran very well, and hope to be back more yet this year.

We planned on staying at CLS and racing their regular Saturday show, but after getting to the scale Thursday, the motor wasn't sounding good. After checking what we could at the trailer, we determined it wasn't anything we could fix. So Friday morning the motor went back to Pro-Craft Racing Engines and hopefully they can get it fixed quick.

Check back later this week to see what this weekend's plan is, as we don't know right now.

The Towmaster Trailers/Derik's Racing Decals/Bilstein Shocks J-Car headed to KRA Speedway Thursday night for their regular program. We started 5th in heat 2 and ended up finishing 2nd behind Jason Thoennes. We started 5th in the feature on a track that was black from top to bottom. There was a preferred groove thru the middle, after 2 laps of scrambling for positions, it was a freight train from there. We finished 5th in a very frustrating race with those track conditions.

Saturday night we headed to Viking Speedway, with 31 mods checking in the gate for the last tune-up before next week's Minnesota Modified Nationals. We started 3rd in the first head and from the drop of the green we could see the car was fast! We won the heat and set ourselves up for a good starting position in the feature. For the 2nd time this week we faced a black track with a preferred middle groove. We started outside front row, and led all 20 laps, sometimes having almost a straightaway lead, on our way to our 1st win of the season at Viking Speedway! The win was something we definitely needed and gives us some momentum heading into this week.

Friday and Saturday is the $7,000-to-win / $700-to-start 3rd Annual Minnesota Modified Nationals at Viking Speedway, promoted by one of our sponsors, FYE Motorsports. We are hoping last weeks win will produce good results this weekend.

A special thanks goes out to Rex at Bilstein Shocks for getting us some new stuff to try and it's really paid off so far. Thanks Rex!

Also Derik's Racing Decals for getting some vinyl work done this week to make the car look good for the big show this weekend. Thanks Derik!

It's once again been an up and down couple weeks for the Towmaster Trailers/Bilstein Shocks/Pro-Craft Racing Engines J-car.

June 7th - KRA Speedway - After arriving at the track it started to rain and continued for about 30 minutes. We tried packing it in but it had gotten too wet and the races were cancelled for the night.

June 9th - Viking Speedway - After finishing 3rd in the heat we started 6th in the feature. From the drop of the green the car was a rocket as Jamie flew around the top and got into 2nd coming out of turn 2. After following the leader for a lap, Jamie made his move down the backstretch for the lead. Going into turn 3 Jamie got chopped down on, had to jam the brakes on hard, and a bracket in the rear suspension broke. This caused the car to spin out and there he sat facing traffic. Cars had no where to go and the car sustained considerable damage to the front end. It's the 2nd win we've potentially lost there this year......

June 14th - KRA Speedway - After spending 4 long days getting the car back together we headed to Willmar. After finishing 4th in the heat we started 8th in the feature. The car was good but not great. Jamie was able to man-handle the car to a 4th place finish, but we were certain the setup had changed from when we scaled it the night before. And it did......

June 16th - Viking Speedway - After getting the car back good on the scales we headed to Alex. After finishing a strong 2nd in the heat we lined up 5th for the feature. Like last week the car was strong early. On the 1st lap Jamie got into the lead heading down the backstretch, but a yellow came out, so back to a total restart. On the next attempt he got into 3rd after the 1st lap, coming out of turn 2 he passed both cars on the bottom, and again a yellow came out. Unfortunately he showed both drivers that the bottom was fast and on the restart they jumped to the bottom as well, so Jamie went high and the car wasn't as good up there. We fell back to 5th, but were able to cross the finish in 4th for our 1st top 5 @ Viking this season. It's been a frustrating season so far up there.....hopefully everything will come together for the MN Modified Nationals in a couple weeks.

Thursday night at KRA Speedway we started 6th in the 1st heat. When we looked at the track about 3 races before our heat, the track was quite dry. In-between then and when we went out for the heat, track officials added water, and we were too tight from the drop of the green, as was everyone else. We finished 4th and qualified for the point inversion. We started 7th in the feature and used what we learned the previous week to try to get the car to work better on the black dry slick. Well we got it working tonight! We quickly charged up to the lead and was able to hold off a strong charge from Jason Thoennes to pick up our 1st win of 2007! We are currently 3 points behind Jason in the point standings.

Saturday's show at Viking Speedway was cancelled due to rain....most of the region got rained out.

It's been an up and down couple weeks for the Towmaster Trailers/Chris Loesch Construction/Derik's Racing Decals J-car.

May 17th - KRA Speedway - We started 3rd in the 2nd heat and went on for the heat win. We started 6th in the feature, missed the setup a lil and came across the checkers in 4th.

May 24th - KRA Speedway - 13 mods checked in tonight. We started and finished the heat 1st, winning the heat by 7-8 car lengths. We started the feature in 7th and finished 4th for the 2nd straight week. The track has been smooth and slick and we can't quite find the right setup yet.

May 26th - Viking Speedway - 30 mods checked in tonight. We started and finished 1st in the heat. We started 3rd in the feature and from the drop of the green the car wasn't there. We haven't been able, to this point, find a good setup on the black dry tracks. This one didn't work well either.

May 27th - Viking Speedway - 27 mods checked in tonight. We started 8th in an absolutely loaded heat race and finished 5th. We started 13th in the feature and worked our way up to 7th by mid-race. The tires lost some grip the last 8 laps of the feature and we ended up finishing 11th. We got a lot closer tonight to finding a setup that will work on the black, hopefully with a couple more adjustments we can hit it on the head.

The Towmaster Trailers/NAPA Auto Parts/Aero Race Wheels J-car went to KRA Speedway Thursday night, with 15 Wissota modifieds checking in the gate. We lined up 3rd in the 1st heat. The track was very rough and we finished 2nd behind Ryan Canon. With the features being lined up by point average, we started the feature in 7th spot. The track was still rough and dry, so passing was a premium. We moved up 3 spots to finish 4th and we passed the most cars in the modified feature!

Saturday's show at Viking Speedway was a night to forget. Viking rarely has a ripple in the track, and both nights we have been there this year, it's been rough. Combined with a 25mph wind, the track was less than ideal the whole night. Track workers did their best to try to make it racy for us but it was hard. We started and finished 8th in the heat. We started 21st in the feature and after 4-5 laps after not really going anywhere, Jamie pulled off. With costs to get to and from the races, as well as race, we need to be smart with how we run our team. It made more sense financially to pull off rather than burn up fuel and tires running around in the back. Not much passing was going on......

Our up-coming schedule:
May 17th - KRA
May 19th - Viking
May 24th - KRA
May 26th - Viking
May 27th - Viking

The Towmaster Trailers/GRP Motorsports/FYE Motorsports J-car went to KRA Speedway Thursday night for their opening night. 17 WISSOTA modifieds checked in the gate, and we lined up 5th in the 3rd heat. Jamie quickly worked his way past Jason Thoennes and Shane Sabraski, and began working leader Don Eischens. The track was narrow, even though Jamie got up next to Don a few times, we had to settle for 2nd. With the features being lined up straight-up, we started the feature in 6th spot. The track was wide and slick, but there was a preferred line right thru the middle. Jamie worked his way up to 2nd, about 8 lengths behind Ryan Canon. Both were running very similar lap times, by the checkers Jamie had cut Ryan's lead to 3 lengths, but it wasn't enough. The car again worked good and this time we were able to finish a feature!

Saturday's show at Viking Speedway was cancelled due to rain.

This week we will be at KRA Speedway Thursday night and Viking Speedway Saturday night.

We would like to welcome new sponsor Chris Loesch Construction from St. Cloud, MN for coming on board to support our 2007 season. Thanks Chris and company!

Jamie Lemke Racing started out it's 2007 season Friday night at Viking Speedway for a 3 hour practice session. We found the car to be very fast and responsive to changes we made. The following night was opening night and 33 modifieds checked into the back gate. We started 4th in the 1st heat, the track was tackier than practice night, but we figured the car would be alright. Well it was a touch on the tight side and we finished 5th. The track dried out some for the feature and we rolled out 17th on the starting grid. Just past halfway of the 20-lap feature we moved up 10 spots and ran in 7th. A car running above us on the track hit a hole and shot down the track, making contact with the right rear quarter panel. The fender rubbed on the tire and 1 lap later our night was done as the tire shredded, ripping up the quarter panel and door. So we have some new sheet metal and graphics to put on the car this week in preparation for this weekend, the car is working great so far.

Friday we will make our 1st trip to Fox Ridge Speedway for their opening night sponsored by FYE Motorsports. Saturday we will make the trip back up to Viking Speedway for week 2.

The 2007 season is just around the corner, and things are in full swing around the shop. This Saturday, March 31st, we are participating in the Levi Schwanz Memorial Car Show at the Hutchinson National Guard Armory. Our first race will be the Viking Speedway opener on April 21st. We decided to forego the 1st 2 weeks at Cedar Lake Speedway because we haven't had any good luck in April at CLS in recent years. Our 2nd race of the season will come on April 27th, as we make our 1st trip to Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, WI. Chris Stepan has returned to promote FRS this summer, and his company, FYE Motorsports, is the opening night sponsor. Chris has stepped up his support of Lemke Racing for the 2007 season, so in return we will be there to support FYE on the 27th. The following night we will be making the long trek over to Viking Speedway for the 2nd race of the season. Starting May 3rd we will start racing Thursday nights when KRA Speedway opens in Willmar, MN.
