Update

The last 2 weeks have been pretty frustrating for us. We have had
3 races and 1 rainout, with the 3 races all ending in DNF’s.
We didn’t crash out of any races, in most cases the feature
track conditions have been 1-grooved with no place to pass. So rather
than burn up costly fuel and tires, we have chosen to pull off.
We don’t want to do it, but with the rising costs for us to
run our team, it’s simply a cost-saving measure. We hope you
all understand. We have also been struggling with getting a consistent
setup with the new Hoosier tires we are mandated to run this year.
We are hoping the struggles we have faced this year will pay off
this weekend.
It’s time for the 4th Annual Minnesota Modified
Nationals @ Viking Speedway! This year’s event is this Friday,
July 4th and Saturday, July 5th. There is an open practice session
on Thursday, July 3rd from 6pm to 10pm. We spent Monday night on
the scales setting up different things we plan to test Thursday
night in hope of having a successful weekend. No modified driver
has won both the Minnesota Modified Nationals and Viking Fall Classic.
We are hoping to be the 1st to obtain the feet. Thanks to Lemke
Racing sponsor FYE Motorsports Promotions for putting on this show.
Thanks to everyone for the support!

Here’s a recap of what’s been going on over the last
10 days. Last Thursday we went to KRA
Speedway for their 3rd week of racing. The car just Hans’t
been quite right since practice night @ Viking
Speedway, so we thought the changes we made would help things. We
were wrong. Jamie started 8th in heat
2, and while he was able to move up to finish 5th, the car still
didn't want to hook up. The freshened Pro-Craft
engine had a bobble in the carburetor, we got that fixed before
the feature, and we tried a few more things
on the setup to try to make it better. Jamie started 9th in the
feature and from the drop of the green we could
see the car still wasn't handling. After finishing the race in 10th
we decided to park the car for the rest of the
weekend and figure out what was wrong with the car. As soon as we
got home, we unloaded the car, pulled
all the shocks and springs off and sent them in to get checked.
While we waited for those results, Jamie went
thru the entire car and didn't find anything bound up or bent. Early
this week we got word that the shocks
were ok, but the right front spring had gone bad. We were confident
that we had found the problem plaguing
us these past 3 nights, but there was only 1 way to find out…..
With KRA raining out Thursday, we headed to Viking Speedway Saturday
night. Jamie started 4th in heat 2
and from the 1st corner we could tell the car was working much better
than it had been. We didn't get as
aggressive with the setup since we didn't know what the car was
going to do. Jamie drove the car to a 2nd
place finish, which was a huge relief and we were happy with that.
Jamie started the 19-car feature in 8th
position. He ran in 7th for the 1st half of the race, and after
a mid-race caution, he blasted from 7th to 4th on
the restart and set his sights on the leaders. By the time he got
3rd place, the other 2 were close to a
straightaway ahead. While he was gaining ground on them he ran out
of time and he finished in 3rd position,
we were very happy to make the tech shed after the way things have
been going. Hopefully we can get a win
this coming week!
This week we plan to hit KRA & Viking, but there is a good chance
of rain for Thursday.
Thanks for the support!

This past Thursday we went to KRA Speedway for their 2nd week of
racing. We started 7th in Heat #1. The
track was normal for KRA, the dirt was dry with lots of marbles,
and we had a hard time getting a hold of
anything. After finishing 5th, we started 9th in the 20 lap feature.
The track was black and slick, and we once
again had a lack of traction, we were not the only ones. Passing
was very difficult, and once everyone got in
line that’s where you finished. That equaled out to an 8th
place finish. We have some things to try this week
that will hopefully help things.
Saturday we went up to Viking Speedway for their season opener,
which came 5 weeks late, the opener was
supposed to be April 19th. With the 30 mph winds we figured track
conditions would produce a bottom side
dry slick track, but what we got was totally opposite. While there
were dry spots, the fast line was around the
top. We started the heat race in 3rd, and ran there for most of
the race, before falling to 4th on the last lap.
We started the feature in 7th, and at the last minute before going
to staging, we decided to tighten the car up
more and try to make the bottom groove work. Unfortunately the top
was too fast to make the bottom work,
and for most of the feature the car was too tight to run the top.
We fell back, but once the car burned some
fuel off Jamie started picking cars back off. He crossed the finish
line in 5th position.
This week’s plan is to go to KRA Thursday and up to Viking
Saturday and Sunday for their Memorial Day
Weekend Doubleheader.

Hey everyone! First off, I want to encourage you to join the new
Lemke Racing newsletter. All you have to do is click on Newsletter
to the right, enter your name and email address, and you will get
a weekly (hopefully) update in your inbox. In the past I just sent
updates out to sponsors, but to expand our exposure as well as that
of our sponsors, we are expanding it out to our fans as well. So
sign up!!
Let me update you all on what has been going on since our big win
back in October. After taking some time off, in December we headed
to the 20th Annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando,
Florida. At the show we were able to visit with 3 of our sponsors;
Aero Race Wheels, Bilstein Shocks and KRC Racing.
We’re happy to have all of our 2007 sponsors
back for 2008, as well as welcoming Aspen Coatings to our list of
great sponsors. We couldn't do it without you all!
After the holidays we started disassembling the 2007 J-car down
to the bare frame and took it to Aspen Coatings in Litchfield, MN
to be re-powdercoated red. For the past 4 weeks we have been assembling
the car, and it’s about ready for the season. We have to add
some fluids, double-check everything, scale it, and it’s ready.
Our 2008 schedule will mirror 2007, Thursday nights we will be
at KRA Speedway and Viking Speedway on Saturdays. We will make a
few trips to Cedar Lake Speedway like always, and whatever else
comes up. With fuel prices continuing to rise, teams have to take
distance into consideration. Our 1st event will most likely be Viking
Speedway’s opener on April 19th. Right now we plan to go to
practice night on the 18th.
This past Saturday we had the car at the 2nd Annual Levi Schwanz
Memorial Car Show at the Hutchinson National Guard Armory. We got
a lot of compliments on the car and hope it’s as fast as it
looks!
A new update will come before the 1st race. Until next time…Thanks
for your support!
